Defiant Empire Corp., the production company behind the “Dark Rising” brand started out in 2005 with business partners Andrew Cymek and Brigitte Kingsley. The company’s goals were to create commercially thrilling projects and to become a staple in the independent film industry. Their first feature film “Dark Rising” was produced in 2006 in collaboration with Black Walk Corp, and released through Universal Vivendi October 30th 2007. The project was nominated for 6 Canadian Comedy Awards and later picked up as a series by Super Channel.

In 2007, Andrew Cymek bought out Defiant Empire and Brigitte Kingsley became president of its production partner Black Walk Corp. The two corporations have built a powerful alliance and continue to collaborate on several projects. Their latest film “Medium Raw” starring John Rhys Davies, William B. Davis and Mercedes McNab is scheduled to be released this fall, and the sequel to Dark Rising, “Summer Strikes Back!” is currently in pre-production.

Defiant Empire has thrived since 2005, remaining fully focused on its goals. Andrew Cymek continues to be the creative force behind this corporation bringing his extensive knowledge of writing, directing, editing and passion to each endeavor they undertake.
