DEFIANT EMPIRE is proud to announce that preproduction has begun on their latest project entitled “Dark Rising”. Expected to begin shooting this September, the feature-length horror/comedy will be produced In association with BLACK WALK and distributed through DECADE DISTRIBUTION. Written and directed by Andrew Cymek; “Dark Rising” takes place in a unique and fantastical world, where the characters must deal with their own personal demons as well as the terrible, monstrous demons around them. 

    The main characters are troubled adults, on the cusp of establishing themselves as confident, mature people, but not yet rid of their childish insecurities.  Indeed, much of the comedy is a result of their ignorance over where the insecurity ends and the confidence begins. 

    The role of “Jason”, the male lead, grows from a boyish wuss, still obsessed with his ex-fiancée, to a demon-slaying hero.  The female lead and heroine “Summer Vale” must deal with the shock of re-entering human society after being banished to the demon realm as a child.  It is a “coming-of-age” story in a world plagued petty desires and devilish creatures.
